Christine Bishop

Christine was an educator in Burbank, IL School District 111 for 35 years. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois and continued her education taking courses and workshops in a variety of subjects in the field of education. She later became certified as a Gifted Education Specialist.

Christine taught middle grades for thirteen years and was chosen to become one of the four teachers in the newly created Gifted Education program. Her new title was Gifted Social Studies Specialist. The Gifted Program included students from Kindergarten through grade 8, and the four gifted instructors were responsible for servicing K-8 students in the district's seven schools. The program was eventually restructured and became the Academic Talent Program focusing on a thematic approach to learning.

Christine's passion was to create curricula for this new program especially in the area of computer education. This led her to excel and become a dominant and well-respected figure in District 111's Academic Talent Program.

Christine's philosophy is that "this is what teachers need in order to incorporate computers more effectively in their classrooms and lesson plans - everything together in one place - ideas, instructions, and at the same time meeting individual needs."
